ILOILO — More than 14,000 Ilonggos have already taken steps to secure their right to vote, as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Iloilo Province reported processing 14,398 voter registration-related applications during the current registration period.
Data from Comelec–Iloilo Province showed that from October 20 to December 30, 2025 a total of 7,004 male and 7,394 female applicants were served, reflecting strong public participation early in the registration window ahead of the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
Voter registration was temporarily suspended from December 31, 2025 and January 1 to January 4, 2026 in line with the holiday break, and will resume this Monday, January 5.
Comelec–Iloilo Province said applications processed covered a wide range of services, including new voter registration, transfer of registration within Iloilo and from other cities or municipalities, reactivation of voter records, correction of entries, change of civil status, and updating of records for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other members of the vulnerable sector.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 1117, the voter registration period runs from October 20, 2025 until May 18, 2026. Registration offices are open from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including holidays, except January 1, 2026 and during the 2026 Holy Week — from Maundy Thursday to Black Saturday.
The provincial Comelec office renewed its call for eligible voters, especially first-time registrants, to file their applications early to avoid congestion as the deadline approaches, stressing that registration is a prerequisite to voting in the November 2, 2026 Barangay and SK elections.
For those availing of Comelec services, the following requirements apply:
* Regular voters (18 years old and above) – Government-issued ID and a photocopy
* Katipunan ng Kabataan voters (15–17 years old) – Photocopy of certificate of live birth and a government-issued or school ID
* Correction of entries – Photocopy of certificate of live birth
* Change of civil status – Photocopy of marriage certificate, court order, certificate of finality, or CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage), whichever is applicable
