ILOILO City has ordered the opening of business establishments and go back to normalcy.
It is good that proper safeguards are being implemented, especially at eateries or restaurants and passenger jeepneys with proper distancing rules for customers.
Even with the lesser number of customers they are serving to achieve proper distancing, it is good that prices and charges have been maintained.
Lesser number of people are going out of their homes in the meantime, but we learned that many just order food and drinks, and bring them home rather than eat at the place, even if the establishments are observing proper distancing for their customers on the tables.
We like the careful attitude of the general public because of the pandemic, with our food establishments likewise adjusting to the situation and implementing protective measures or precautions to protect customers.
In our visit to the hospital for our regular health check-up, we are happy to note that the full staff is back in service, and with lesser patients we did not have to wait long to see our doctor and even for the lab tests that he asked us to undergo.

HON. ARCADIO ‘CADIO’ H. GORRICETA
(1945-2020)
We pay tribute to a good friend and former rural bank colleague and public servant who passed away on July 2, 2020. He was laid to rest on July 6, 2020 at the Christ the King Memorial Park.
During our term as president of the Iloilo Rural Bankers Association and later as director in the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP), we would meet Cadio at rural bank conferences in Iloilo and in Metro Manila. We remember that he was president of a rural bank in San Miguel town.
Later, when he was congressman, we also met once at the international airport in Metro Manila.
He came from a meeting with the President in Malacañang on his project of improving the road to the mountain resort in Bucari, Leon, Iloilo. The resort has a commanding view of various towns in the province and this attracted many city residents to build summer homes on the surrounding properties.
No regrets. Cadio’s life was one that gave honor and pride to his people especially for Pavia and his congressional district.
Our condolences to his family and we pray that the good Lord receive him well and give him rest.

GEM OF THOUGHT
“Come out of your shell.” – If you are told to come out of your shell, it means you should stop being shy and withdrawn, and instead become more friendly and sociable.
