ILOILO – This province’s second most wanted person was arrested in an intensified manhunt operation in Barangay Aripdip, San Rafael town, on Monday afternoon, August 11.
Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that the suspect, identified only as alias “Nek,” 19, a laborer and resident of the said barangay, was collared by virtue of a warrant of arrest for rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A paragraph 1 in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, and in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
The warrant, issued by the Regional Trial Court – Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, carried no bail recommendation.
The arrest was carried out by the San Rafael Municipal Police Station’s Tracker Team, with support from the Regional Intelligence Unit and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan praised the swift and coordinated action of the operating units.
“This accomplishment demonstrates our firm resolve to bring offenders to justice and to protect the vulnerable members of our community. PRO-6 remains steadfast in ensuring that those who violate the law will be held accountable. I commend the dedication and professionalism of our personnel in this successful operation,” Ligan said.
PRO-6 also urged the public to remain vigilant and to cooperate with authorities by reporting the whereabouts of wanted persons and any suspicious activities in their communities./PN
