ILOILO – Police arrested the province’s fourth most wanted person in Barangay Batuan, San Dionisio town.
The 21-year-old alias “Bert”, was apprehended around 9 p.m. on June 13 by officers of the San Dionisio Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by their officer-in-charge, Captain Edward O. Villanis, through the strength of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by the Regional Trial Court – Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
The arrest warrant, dated May 27, 2025, charges the suspect with rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act (RA) 8353, in relation to RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The suspect was detained at San Dionisio MPS pending further legal proceedings. No bail bond was recommended for his temporary freedom.
Police said the suspect had been evading arrest since the incident was reported in January this year.
Colonel Roland V. Bulalacao, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, credited the successful operation to coordination between the community and local law enforcement.
Bulalacao said the arrest demonstrates the police’s commitment to bringing fugitives to justice and ensuring offenders face the consequences of their actions./PN
