Ilongga hitter Almirante dreams to play in UAAP

MANILA – Already realizing her dream to play in Manila with the Kings Montessori School Lady Vikings, Ilongga volleybelle Keiara Almirante hopes to see herself someday playing in the UAAP.

The Iloilo City-native admitted that her dream school is Ateneo de Manila University since she previously played for Ateneo de Iloilo but will be open to any UAAP school that will recruit her.

“Definitely Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles. I am still True Blue by heart,” Almirante said in an interview with Sports Lang podcast. “But I am open to play naman for any UAAP schools since being able to play there is already an honor.”

Almirante, who was first recruited by First City Providential College in Bulacan from Ateneo de Iloilo before moving to Lady Vikings, said that she was grateful to the support of her parents who moved to Manila with her.

“I believe that the harder we work to reach our goal, the closer we get to it. My parents sacrificed a lot para maka-transfer kami dito (sa Manila). We even brought our two dogs with us,” Almirante said.

“My parents wanted to be with me para safe and to make sure I stay focused in my studies and sa paglalaro,” she added. “That is why I have to do my best and hope to repay them back in the future.”/PN
