MANILA – Ilonggo boxer and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jenel Lausa is staging an octagon cage comeback after signing a deal with the BRAVE Combat Federation (CF) recently.

The Concepcion, Iloilo-native Lausa is returning to MMA two years since his final cage match when he was still under contract with the fabled Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

“Coming back to mixed martial arts is really something that I look forward to. I am very grateful for this opportunity and I value the trust that BRAVE CF has given me,” Lausa said.

“I’m excited to represent my country once again to the global stage of mixed martial arts and it is with great pride that my return to the sport will take place under the banner of BRAVE CF,” he added.

In a separate statement, BRAVE CF welcomed the arrival of Lausa. The fastest-growing mixed martial arts organization in the world is expected to line him up in the upcoming events.

The Ilonggo MMAer holds a 7-5 professional MMA record with two knockouts. Lausa was a former Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) flyweight champion after defeating Crisanto Pitpitunge in 2016.

The said PXC win opened the doors for Lausa to be signed with UFC. One of his most memorable win was a lopsided unanimous decision triumph over China’s Yao Zhikui.

Apart from MMA, the 32-year-old Lausa also dabbled in the boxing ring. He has an unblemished 10-0-1 win-loss-draw ring record including six victories by way of stoppages.

As a boxer Lausa was also a former holder of interim Philippines Boxing Federation super bantamweight title and Global Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific super featherweight crown.

Prior to the pandemic, Ilonggo Lausa also signed a boxing promotional deal with well-known boxing promoter-manager Dante Almario but has yet to make his boxing return./PN
