Ilonggo jins capture 20 medals in nat’l poomsae

MANILA – Ilonggo taekwondo jins from A-Team Blackbelts took home 20 medals, including four golds, during the 2018 Smart National Poomsae Championships at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Abigail Marie Perillo, Kershel Kail Silava, Kenneth Navales, and Artha Camille Tanagon captured gold medals while Markishi Anthonette Ting, Jairus Luc Kriztorei Lagon and Aryan Nicole Nonis bagged silver on Sunday.

Cindy Joy Diasnes contributed two bronze medals to the delegation in the individual junior female and in the junior team event with Sophia Tungala and Angelie Marie Perillo.

Also with two bronze medals each were Raphael Perillo (individual boy and team boy poomsae) and Zoe Gabrielle Javellana (individual girls and team poomsae with Aryan Nicole Nonis).

Other bronze medal winners were Mariel Angela and Kristie Marie Siscar, Lansil Andrew Brotarlo, Lyn Owem Santacera, Joycie Pearl Tacuel, and Johnniel Andre Cabaraca.

Those who failed to clinch a medal for the Ilonggo delegates were Ma. Krizzel Balofiños, Justine James Diasnes, Justin Clark Gancero, Alfie Diasnes, Myka Lacanaria, Quinn Pauline Hormigoso, and Draico Gantalao.

Around 1,500 athletes participated in the two-day event sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association.

Participating regions included National Capital Region, Caraga, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.

The chapters included Central Gymnasium, Powerflex, Ateneo, San Sebastian College, University of the Philippines, San Beda College, De La Salle Zobel, De La Salle University, Team Baguio, Pangasinan, Cebu, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Philippine National Police, and Armed Forces of the Philippines./PN
