MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the Iloilo City-based A. Diasnes Gym bagged 17 medals, including five golds, in the Speed Kicking category of the 2021 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Global Online Taekwondo Championships.
Alfie Diasnes and Sherimei Anne Hojilla led the crew with gold medals in Blackbelt while Kian Ezekiel Castigador, Ehyan Rhodwell Talabucon, and Franz Angelo Fernandez won gold in 1st KUP.
Meanwhile, Francesca Alterado, Adriano Horlador III, and John Patrick Palonpon nabbed silver medals, as did Jan Andrew Gancero.
Elisha Venice Aguilar, Rojohn de la Cruz, Almar Diasnes, Maria April Joy Muyuela, Rufino Antonio Barrato, Aldriene Earl Horlador, Gabrielle Dacumos, and Karla Breanna Andaya settled for bronze.
Overall, the A. Diasnes Gym reaped six gold, five silver, and 11 bronze medals in the Philippine Taekwondo Association-sanctioned event after winning gold, silver, and three bronze medals in Poomsae last week.
“We all did a really great job. Now our mission has been accomplished, let’s enjoy the fruit of our labor,” A. Diasnes Taekwondo gym coach Flora Navales told Panay News.
On the other hand, Seth Ryan Taekwondo Academy took home a silver medal from Mary Angela Manabat in the 8th KUP Cadet and a bronze medal from Princess Dennisse Mana-ay in the 5th KUP.
Overall, the Seth Ryan Taekwondo Academy secured two silver and bronze medals after seizing a silver and bronze in the Poomsae category from Rogin Ace Segurigan and Mana-ay, respectively./PN
