Ilonggo workers urged to know EC benefits

ILOILO City – Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) encouraged all workers to know employees’ compensation benefits and observe obedience to occupational safety and health policies in their workplace to avoid work-connected accidents and illnesses.

“This is a free benefit for workers that they need to claim as part of their right to social protection. The ECC has been implementing this program since 1975. We always make sure that clear and accessible information on ECP (Employees’ Compensation Program) will reach every worker in every region of the country,” said ECC Regional Communications officer Stephen Barredo.

Barredo said one of the mandate of ECC is sustainable information dissemination, which reaped them a special citation from the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Social Security Association to recognize their commendable efforts in keeping all Filipino workers informed of their rights, benefits, and privileges under the Employees’ Compensation Program through an intensive and innovative information campaign.

The ECC, one of the attached agencies of the Department of Labor and Employment, is mandated to implement the Employees’ Compensation Program that provides a package of benefits to workers and/or their dependents in the event of work-related contingencies./PN
