ILOILO – Beneficiaries of the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in the city of Iloilo received a total of P30,680,450 in cash assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 6 (DOLE-6) through its Iloilo Field Office.
Of the total amount, P26,450,000 was allocated to CAMP, which benefited 5,290 recipients from 18 tourism establishments and transportation groups.
“Nalipay gid ang mga drivers sa bulig sang DOLE kag DOT (Department of Tourism). Bisan paano naka-turitibawas sila sa kabudlay sang pangabuhi dala sang pandemic,” according to Raymundo Parcon, Iloilo City Loop Alliance of Jeepney and Operators Drivers Association president.
Parcon, who is also the chairman of the West Visayas Transport Cooperative, shared that over half of their association’s drivers lost income due to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Members of the informal sector were also affected by the ECQ status.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo Field Office expedited the processing and distribution of TUPAD wages to qualified recipients.
TUPAD program received approximately P4,230,450 to pay the salaries of 714 beneficiaries from 15 barangays in the city who completed 15 days of community service.
