CENTRAL Philippine University Golden Lions successfully retained their title in the 2018 Iloilo PRISAA secondary girls futsal on Wednesday at the CPU gym in Iloilo City.
The Golden Lions beat University of San Agustin in the final round 3-2. Western Institute of Technology claimed the third place finish.
CPU and San Agustin made back-and-forth action when the scores were tied at 2-2 at the end of the regulation. The Golden Lions then sneaked in a conversion just before the final buzzer of the extra time.
Making up the Golden Lions were Victoria Altavas, Rikki Joan Nunez, Catherine Advincula, Peavy May Lago, Krisha Gabais, Kassi Andon, Selah Taran, Rea Angela Majarocon, Shanley Soldevilla, Maria Cordero, Trishia Tan Balboa, Bridgette Anne Libo-on, Shayne Mamon, Mariel Adorio, Juliana Espedion, and Clydelle Denola.
CPU head coach GP Bayona Seloterio lauded the efforts of his players as finished the tournament with a perfect slate.
âOur hard work and long training paid off,â Seloterio said of their second straight finals win. âOf course this is not possible without the support of the CPU, the parents of the players and the CPU seniors (players) who were giving nonstop advice and motivation to the juniors.â/PN
