ALWAYS aim for the impossible.
Congratulations! You are now on the last quizzes, exams, oral recitations, and other academic stuff. You might be wondering what to do next.
“Shall I go abroad?”
“Will I chase after my dreams?”
“Shall I choose a big salary over my passion?”
”Shall I prioritize career over love?”
“Will I accomplish something after I graduate?”
Don’t worry. These are normal thoughts after graduation.
Most people don’t get what they want for a variety of reasons, one of which is that they haven’t decided what they really want. They don’t have a precise, persuasive description of what they want in the first place. Many people struggle with career indecision. Don’t be discouraged. Keep looking until you find your true calling.
The Seed In You
In every one of us is that tiny seed of the “you” that you’re meant to be. May it be your young self dreaming to become an artist, or your aspiration to become the President of this country.
All have “inner” dreams. Unfortunately, many have buried this “seed” with the influence of parents, teachers, friends, and other adult role models.
Cut that out! That’s your life. Don’t waste it living on someone else’s dreams. No one can put a limit on you without your permission.
Inner Guidance System
Identify what makes you happy. Your purpose is in line with the things that make you the happiest. Growing up, the experiences you gained throughout the years must have given you a fair share of ideas about what sparks your interest.
You might be wondering what if you have no choice left but to go after a big salary even though you don’t even like what you are doing?
Better think of it this way – there’s nothing wrong with sticking to a job you don’t even like for it allows you to keep your grit and grip in life. Maybe that salary is more than enough to feed your family or maybe your current job is just testing your capabilities and attitude towards life, how you position yourself makes all the difference. Indeed, you can never see the sunrise by looking to the west.
But don’t limit your options to simply what looks practical or acceptable, or you will lose sight of what you want and you are left with merely a compromise.
And when you add passion to a belief, it becomes a conviction. So always remember that your passion is the spark of your fuse.
Decide Where You Want To Be
What does success look to you? What do joy and fulfillment mean?
What is your purpose in life?
As you are about to graduate, make sure to embrace uncertainties and changes. Be comfortable being uncomfortable. Whatever profession that you are going to choose after you graduate, always remember not to be afraid making mistakes. Embrace the fact that every day is a learning process.
Expand Your Horizons
Expanding your horizons means being able to see the greater potential around you. When you expand your horizons, your views on life will change. New opportunities will open up to you.
Exercise your right to self-determination, the ability to control your fate.
Always Impossible Until It’s Done
There’s no such thing as the BEST career after you graduate. The word “best” is relative.
Therefore, don’t sell yourself short. Do not to limit your vision. Remember, you are not finished yet. You’re just starting to live the best years of your life./PN
