MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday called on members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) to remain active partners of the government in nation-building, urging the religious organization to continue promoting public service, compassion and civic responsibility as it celebrated its 112th founding anniversary.
In a message released by Malacañang, Marcos emphasized the administration’s support for organizations that help strengthen families, foster peace and contribute to community development, while recognizing the INC’s longstanding role in shaping Filipino society.
“From your humble beginnings, you have grown into a religious institution whose presence has reached communities across the globe,” he said.
The President said the church’s emphasis on faith, discipline and responsibility has made a significant contribution to communities in the Philippines and overseas.
He also credited the religious organization with helping reinforce the country’s moral foundation through its commitment to integrity and devotion.
“Your enduring work reminds us that a life rooted in devotion and integrity helps reinforce the moral foundation of society,” Marcos said.
The President encouraged INC members to continue putting their faith into action by extending assistance to those in need and promoting harmony in the communities where they serve.
“As you gather in thanksgiving, may this milestone deepen your commitment to translating your beliefs into meaningful acts that uplift those in need, comfort the weary, and foster harmony wherever you serve,” he said.
The President likewise urged the church to sustain its partnership with the government, stressing that nation-building requires the participation of institutions that encourage responsible citizenship.
“In this spirit, I encourage every member of the INC to remain a steadfast partner in nation-building, where faith is demonstrated through service and citizenship is expressed through genuine concern for others,” he said.
The President also assured the organization of the government’s continued support for groups engaged in humanitarian work and community-building initiatives.
“Rest assured that the government stands in solidarity with organizations that strengthen families, promote peace, and expand compassion throughout our country,” Marcos said.
The INC has remained in the national spotlight in recent months after organizing a series of large-scale peace rallies opposing moves to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio and the arrest of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta. Church leaders have consistently maintained that the gatherings were intended to promote peace and national unity./PN
