NEW DELHI – India on Sunday reported a record daily rise of 349,691 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, taking its overall tally to 16.96 million infections.
A total of 2,767 people were reported dead on Sunday, according to health ministry data. The total fatalities now reach 192,311.
India set a new global record of the most number of COVID-19 infections in a day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all citizens to be vaccinated and exercise caution, saying the “storm” of infections had shaken the country.(Reuters)
