‘Info officers vital in anti-fire drive’

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Antique underscored the importance of information officers in the campaign to curb the number of fire incidents.

During a briefing on fire prevention, Senior Fire Officer 4 Alex Ortiaga said the Antique Association of Information Officers could help in disseminating information to the public.

“We need to sustain the awareness campaign,” Ortiaga stressed.

The progressive stages of burning – from incipient to smoldering phases – were discussed during the event.

The information officers were also briefed about the different kinds of fire extinguishers and how to use them.

“Always look for the certificate of competency when buying fire extinguishers,” Ortiaga said.

He added the certificate is issued by the BFP as proof that the brand of fire extinguisher meets the safety standards. (With PNA/PN)
