ILOILO City – A police official died in a road accident in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district on Friday, May 10.

The 42-year-old Major Sullen Domingo, chief of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Logistics and Supply Office, succumbed to a head injury.

According to IPPO spokesperson Major Rolando Araño, the motorcycle-riding Domingo was on his way home to the city from duty when he accidentally hit 19-year-old Mevin Señagan of Barangay Cabugao Sur, Sta. Barbara town around 4:30 p.m.

Araño said Señagan suddenly crossed the road. Domingo tried to avoid him but he hit the latter and consequently crashed into an electric post.

“He [Domingo] was in a complete gear, but maybe because of the impact, he died. The boy [Señagan] is now in stable condition,” Araño said.

The IPPO, under the leadership of officer-in-charge Colonel Bayani Razalan, mourns the untimely passing of Domingo.

“He was a dedicated and esteemed member. He was too young and he was in his 20 years of unwavering commitment and exemplary leadership to the Philippine National Police,” Araño said.

The IPPO spokesperson added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences and offer our full support as they navigate through this unimaginable loss. May they find solace and strength in the cherished memories they shared with him.”

Domingo began his journey in police service as a police officer 1 (patrolman) in 2003. Through his exemplary performance, he rose to the rank of a commissioned officer through a lateral entry in 2012.

Throughout his illustrious career, Domingo held various significant positions, including as police chiefs of Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station (MPS) in 2014,  Batad and Barotac Viejo MPS in 2016, Cabatuan MPS in 2017, Alimodian MPS in 2020, and San Miguel MPS in 2022./PN
