ILOILO City – The director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) was relieved from his post nearly three weeks before the May 12 midterm elections.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), confirmed Colonel Bayani Razalan’s relief yesterday, adding that he received the information on Tuesday, April 22.

Wanky said based on the relief order from the Philippine National Police headquarters, Razalan will be replaced by Colonel Rolando Bulalacao, PRO-6 chief regional staff, in concurrent capacity.

As of this writing, the PRO-6 was waiting for the clearance from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Central Office to approve Razalan’s relief.

In a Panay News interview, Razalan said he has not yet received the relief order as of yesterday afternoon.

“As of now, hindi ko pa natanggap ang order. But, as professional officer, I have to follow the order kung mayron man. Officers come and go,” Razalan told Panay News.

He added that he is honored to serve the Ilonggos and maintain the peace and order in the province.

Razalan assumed post as IPPO director on April 19, 2024. In his over one year in the province, he had outstanding performance in the campaign against illegal drugs, most wanted persons, loose firearms, and illegal fishing in northern Iloilo.

“I would like to thank the men and women of IPPO, local government units, and media members who supported me in my one stint in Iloilo province,” he added./PN
