ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) topped its counterparts in Region 6 in performance rating, gaining the trust and respect of the community, in a survey that the University of the Philippines (UP) conducted.
The survey was from July 11 to 23 this year. The UP Visayas College of Management polled 7,350 respondents.
IPPO got the highest point – 3.75 or satisfactory rating, said Chief Superintendent Josephus Angan, regional police director.
The result will serve as basis in improving crime prevention and solution efforts of police units, he said.
“The people are the ultimate beneficiaries of our services. Only they can tell whether we do well or not,” Angan said.
In this survey on the performance of the Police Regional Office 6, respondents from 147 cities and towns in the region were asked if they were satisfied with the police’s job, taking into consideration the people’s safety, public trust and level of community respect.
In the municipal level, the Dumangas police station (Iloilo) got the highest point – 4.41 (very satisfactory).
The Concepcion police station (Iloilo) got 4.38 points and Mina police station (Iloilo) had 3.97 points.
“We are now gaining back the public’s trust and confidence. They are seeing that we are doing our job to protect and safeguard them,” said Senior Superintendent Cornelio Salinas, IPPO director.
Dumangas’ Mayor Rolando Distura congratulated his police chief, Senior Inspector Charlie Sustento for being the top performing police chief in the province.
“We could not have achieved this without the support of the local officials,” said Sustento./PN
