MANILA — A Filipina has been killed in a missile strike in Israel, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Tuesday, as intensifying hostilities in the Middle East continue to endanger overseas Filipino workers.
The victim died after a missile hit a residence in Haifa on Sunday evening, April 5, killing her along with her husband and elderly parents-in-law, according to the DFA.
The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv has already notified the victim’s family and is facilitating assistance, including arrangements for the earliest possible repatriation of her remains.
“The family requests privacy at this difficult time to grieve in peace,” the DFA said.
“We join the Filipino community in praying for her eternal rest and for strength for her family during this time of profound loss,” the agency added.
The fatality marks the second Filipina casualty since the outbreak of violence last month, which was triggered by U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran.
Tensions remain high across the region, with U.S. President Donald Trump reiterating on April 6 that the deadline for Iran to reach a deal will not be extended.
He described Iran’s peace proposal as “significant but not good enough,” and warned that U.S. forces would launch sweeping attacks on Iranian infrastructure if no agreement is reached./PN
