BACOLOD City – Mayor Joselito Malabor of Isabela town denied receiving a memorandum from Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOCPPO), about him being a rebel target.

The police official reportedly released a memorandum stating that the New People’s Army (NPA) was going after the mayor and cited an information from NOCPPO’s intelligence unit.

According to Malabor, he only knew that Chief Inspector Edcel Balibadlan, Isabela chief of police, and Castil had a closed-door meeting.

It was reported that Castil was upset after learning that his memorandum to the Isabela municipal police station allegedly leaked and circulated in the municipality.

Castil said his memorandum was confidential.

“It was still subject to validation,” he stressed.

Malabor said he and Balibadlan have yet to talk. The last time they saw each other was on June 12, he said./PN
