Japan B.League: Kiefer Ravena, and Shiga prevail over Iwahe

MANILA – llonggo Kiefer Ravena and Shiga Lakes continued their winning ways in the Japan B.League Division 2 with an 82-61 domination over Iwahe Big Bulls on Tuesday night at the Shiga Daihatu Arena.

The former NLEX Road Warriors guard finished with six points, all coming in the second half, to go with 10 assists and one rebounds in 19 minutes of action as the Lakes improved to 35-13 win-loss slate.

Ryan Kriener led the way for the Lakes with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks, while Brock Motum chipped in 16 markers, including two three-point conversions.

“I feel like our opponent set the tone for us. It took us some time to make proper adjustments to our play, but I feel like we were able to set the tone after that, and we did particularly well in terms of rebounding,” said Lakes head coach Danny Gomez.

“But, everyone played, and even the smallest player was able to play for more than seven minutes, so I feel like everyone was involved in the game and played well together,” he added.

Kelvin Martin top-scored with 12 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two assists, Toshiki Yokogawa added 11 markers, and Eric Thompson hauled 14 rebounds to go with seven points for the Big Bulls, which dropped to 15-33.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt Adams and Yamagata Wyverns (23-26) hacked out an 88-77 victory over Ehime Orange Vikings (17-32) over at the Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park.

Adams, a former top-overall pick in the PBA Rookie Draft, finished with seven points, including a three-point conversion, to go with three rebounds, one assist, and a block in 12 minutes.

Timothy Holyfield led the way for the Wyverns with 23 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals, and two blocks, while Michael Finke and Takaya Kudo added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Eugene Phelps had a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Orange Vikings, Novar Gadson added 14 markers, while Yoshihiko Toshino contributed 13 markers./PN
