Japan B.League: Ravena helps Yokohama past Koshigaya

MANILA – Kiefer Ravena and Yokohama B-Corsairs got their revenge on Koshigaya Alphas with an 87-63 victory in the Japan B.League Division 1 on Sunday night at the Yokohama International Pool.

The Iloilo City-native Ravena came off the bench to finish 11 points, three assists, and two rebounds as the B-Corsairs rebounded from their 80-72 defeat to the Alphas on Saturday.

Maik Kotsar had near triple-double numbers of 15 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, while Gary Clark and Kai King added 14 and 12 markers, respectively, as the B-Corsairs improved to a 6-8 record.

“I am really happy that we won,” said Yokohama head coach Lassi Tuovi in a post-game presser. “All of our players fought hard from the start of today’s match with a strong desire to give it our all.”

“I am proud of the fact that everyone didn’t give up and fought until the end, and it was because of that kind of play that we were able to win,” he added.

Tim Soares was the lone double-digit scorer for the Alphas with 23 points, while Kai Sotto was not activated for the match. They dropped to a 3-14 record.

Meanwhile, Matthew Wright finished with 14 points, five assists, and two rebounds as he led Kawasaki Brave Thunders (4-10) to a 91-82 victory against his former team, Kyoto Hannaryz (7-7).

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. tallied 26 points but Osaka Evessa (7-7) bowed to Sendai 89ers (4-10), 96-88, while Dwight Ramos struggled with just four points as Levanga Hokkaido (5-9) lost to Utsunomiya Brex (12-2), 88-79.

In Division 2 action, Kihei Clark contributed 17 points, eight assists, and two rebounds as Kumamoto Volters faltered to Kobe Storks, 94-78, at the Victorina Wink Stadium./PN
