ILOILO City – The Archdiocese of Jaro is urging the faithful to include in their Holy Week Visita Iglesia this year the seven churches designated as pilgrimage sites for the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope.

Reverend Father Angelo Colada, director of the Archdiocese’s Social Communication Office, encouraged devotees not to miss the opportunity to visit these historically significant churches, which were selected by the newly retired Archbishop Romeo O. Lazo to serve as sacred venues for prayer and reflection during the Jubilee Year.

The seven pilgrimage churches are:

* Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral in Jaro, Iloilo City

* St. Nicholas of Tolentino Parish in Cabatuan, Iloilo

* St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras

* St. Thomas of Villanova Parish in Miag-ao, Iloilo

* Patronage of St. Joseph Parish in Pototan, Iloilo

* Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostles Parish in Barotac Viejo Iloilo

* Holy Rosary Chapel of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines in Molo, Iloilo City

Colada reminded devotees that the essence of Visita Iglesia is not sightseeing but a spiritual journey rooted in prayer, meditation, and renewal of faith.

The churches were specifically chosen to allow the faithful to engage in catechesis, receive the sacrament of confession, and deepen their relationship with God.

The 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, declared by the Catholic Church, is a year of spiritual renewal, reflection, and sharing the hope of Christian faith. It will conclude with the closing of the Holy Door on January 6, 2026./PN
