ILOILO City — The Archdiocese of Jaro has called on Catholics across Iloilo and neighboring provinces under its jurisdiction to wear white during Sunday Masses this June 28 as a public expression of support for the nationwide White Ribbon Movement advocating truth, justice, accountability, and integrity in public life.
Jaro Archbishop Midyphil Billones also encouraged all churches, chapels, Catholic schools, and institutions under the archdiocese to display white ribbons on the same day in solidarity with the nationwide initiative.
Billones issued an endorsement letter on June 24 inviting all Christ’s faithful in the Archdiocese of Jaro to participate in the White Ribbon Movement, a campaign endorsed by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
“The White Movement on June 28, 2026 is a faith-based and non-partisan expression of our commitment to truth, justice, accountability, and righteousness in public life,” part of Billones’ letter stated.
The archbishop stressed that the initiative is intended to unite the faithful in prayer and visible solidarity while remaining rooted in Christian values rather than partisan politics.
“These visible signs of unity and solidarity accompany our prayers for our nation and for all those entrusted with public service,” the letter added.
The nationwide rally, organized by religious and civil society groups and led by the Inter-Religious Leaders Council for National Transformation, seeks to promote electoral reforms, stronger government accountability, and measures against corruption and political dynasties./PN
