ILOILO City – No major crime incidents were recorded during the Jaro district and religious fiesta on Feb. 2, according to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Malinong kag matawhay ang kapiyestahan,” said Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson of ICPO.

Sangrines cited, too, the deployment of more than 200 police personnel from the ICPO and the district’s police station, as well as the augmented force multipliers.

Ara ang BPAT-Jaro (Barangay Peace Action Team). Ara man ang mga grupo sang Sambayanan Defense Group kag mga volunteer groups nga nag-upod bantay, mga katapo sang PSTMO (Public Safety and Transportation Management Office) kag katapo man sang Iloilo City government,” Sangrines said

She added that the public also cooperated with the security measures imposed during the celebration.

Thousands of devotees from across Western Visayas and other regions flocked the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral’s perimeter for the feast of Our Lady of Candles on Thursday.
