BACOLOD City – A woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl at the parking lot of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) yesterday morning.
Dondon Parandas, safety officer of the city’s Office of Building Administrator (OBA), assisted the emergency delivery of the mother from Barangay Handumanan.
According to Parandas, the mother was riding a tricycle going to the lying-in clinic of the City Health Office (CHO).
“The mother and the tricycle driver possibly got nervous because the baby was about to come out while they were traversing along the circumferential road. So they just dropped by at the BCGC to look for an ambulance to hurriedly bring the mother to the CHO lying-in clinic,” said Parandas.
He added: “The baby is about to come out and there was no time anymore so I assisted with the delivery.”
Parandas said that was the fourth time he assisted in delivering a baby but the first time at the parking lot.
He further said that he acquired his experience in assisting the child delivery when he was the officer-in-charge of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The mother and the baby were later brought to the CHO lying-in clinic./PN
