ILOILO City – The Junior Chamber International Regatta (JCI Regatta) is awarding the outstanding students of Iloilo today at Robinsons Place Iloilo Event Centre.

Now on its eighth year, The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA) recognizes Ilonggo high school and college students who excel in academics, leadership, community involvement and faith.

This year, TOSIA has 12 junior high school and 10 college students who passed the thorough process of bid book screening.

From 64 who passed their bid books and undergone the Essay Round, the aspirants were trimmed down to 38 and had the chance to prove themselves during the Interview Round until the 22 TOSIA finalists were named.

The finalists also attended the Bootcamp, a leadership training program spearheaded by JCI Regatta to give them inputs that they can apply as future leaders.

For the Junior High School Category, the finalists include:

* Cleo Baylen of Sta. Barbara National High School

* Ma. Samantha Ysabel Co of Ateneo de Iloilo Santa Maria Catholic School

* Allen Dave Evidente of SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children

* Janna Marie Go of Iloilo Scholastic Academy

* Kyla Mari Gomez of St. Joseph School (Iloilo), Inc.

* Jethro Mark Jerez of Central Philippine University

* Michelle Antonette Mondejar of Hua Siong College of Iloilo

* Danniella Grace Payo of Lambunao National High School

* Daniel Martin Solinap of PAREF Westbridge School, Inc.

* Maria Carmela Sumagaysay of St. Joseph School (Iloilo), Inc.

* Joshua David Terania of Iloilo Scholastic Academy, and

* Leif Mathieu Tobias of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School.

Meanwhile, for the college category, the finalists are:

* Aime Hope Balico of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo

* Edvy Janrei Berte of John B. Lacson Martime University-Arevalo

* Gem Rose Cavalida of PHINMA-University of Iloilo

* Thomas Richard Graza of John B. Lacson Maritime University-Arevalo

* Lysander Quintia of West Visayas State University

* Michael Rosal of John B. Lacson Maritime University-Arevalo

* Vivienne Songcayawon of Central Philippine University

* Martin Ryan Suamen of West Visayas State University

* John Carl Tagulalap of John B. Lacson Maritime University-Arevalo, and

* Steven Tajonera of John B. Lacson Maritime University-Molo.

Watch out who among these finalists will make it to TOSIA Circle of Five of each category this year during the awarding ceremonies today.

JCI Regatta is an organization that empowers young people to create positive change, is composed of diverse young Ilonggo leaders, from 18 to 40 years old, driven with a passion to serve and working together to bring about positive change to society.
