ILOILO City – A motorcycle driver was shot dead by a farmer in Barangay Bolo, Maasin, Iloilo allegedly in a fit of jealousy.
The 49-year-old Martin Madojonog of the town’s Barangay Sinubsuban died of multiple gunshot wounds around 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 31, police said.
The suspect was Rolando Maderse, 59, also of Barangay Bolo.
According to Police Major Fernand Limbungan of the Maasin police station, the victim was onboard his motorcycle when flagged down by the suspect.
A .45 pistol and a .38 revolver were used on Madojonog, he added.
The suspect fled but was later arrested in a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Tuy-an, Maasin.
Lambungan said Maderse admitted killing Madojonog because of “too much jealousy.”
“Grabe gid seguro ang pangimon nya (suspect) kay ang iya live-in partner nag-upod sa biktima,” Limbungan said.
Limbungan added that the suspect’s live-in partner may have left him following reports of physical abuse.
In fact, the live-in partner already charged Maderse with violence against women and children.
