Governor Florencio Miraflores together with PhilHealth 6 Regional Vice President Lourdes F. Diocson seal an agreement to cover the casuals and job hires of the Provincial Government of Aklan under the Group Enrolment Program of PhilHealth.
The Province, which is the first LGU in Western Visayas to adopt the Group Enrolment Program of PhilHealth commits to enrol its 1,684 directly hired job orders and project-based contractors as members under the Informal Economy.
Under this program, self-paying members working in the government as JOs and contractors are covered and are entitled to avail of PhilHealth benefits within the validity period after payment of the initial three (3) months premium contributions.
“Our daunting mandate for Universal Health Care is nearing its realization as we gain support from our partners from other agencies of the government in providing health care protection to its JOs and contractors. Surely, this will generate a big leap in our membership coverage in the region, currently at 92 percent,” said Diocson.
With the agreement, the Provincial Government of Aklan will withhold the necessary premium contributions based on the monthly income of its job-hired employees, either at P200 per month for those earning P25,000 and below while P300/month for employees in high income bracket of above P25,000. Schedule for payment can be on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis.
Diocson said that this mechanism will ensure continuous payment of premium contributions of Informal Sector members at the same time allow uninterrupted availment of benefits which include In-patient benefits, Out-patient benefits, Z- benefits for catastrophic conditions and other Special benefits in any of the accredited hospital of PhilHealth.
“We are one with PhilHealth in securing the health insurance coverage of our constituents here in the province. We are also thankful for the fast payment of claims to our hospitals which is very important in providing funds for the implementation of the no balance billing in Aklan,” said Governor Miraflores.
For CY 2017, PhilHealth has already paid 46,959 claims amounting to P502,468,522.75 and more than P215 Million as of June 2018 benefit payment./PN
