ILOILO – Police operatives in Pavia town arrested a 29-year-old man for illegal possession of a firearm during an operation conducted early Tuesday morning, September 16, in Barangay Anilao, Pavia, Iloilo.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Gio,” is a single, unemployed resident of Zone 4 in the said barangay. He was apprehended by personnel of the Pavia Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by officer-in-charge Captain Ritz Field S. Presquito.
The operation stemmed from information provided by concerned residents and was carried out through a search warrant issued on September 10, 2025, by the Regional Trial Court (Branch 25), 6th Judicial Region in Iloilo City.
Authorities said the warrant followed a month-long validation confirming that the suspect was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Recovered from the suspect’s residence was a homemade .38 caliber revolver along with three rounds of live ammunition.
Gio is currently detained at the Pavia MPS custodial facility and will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office reaffirmed its intensified campaign against loose firearms to protect communities and curb criminality across the province./PN
