Joe Iloilo City’s biggest midterm polls spender

ILOILO City – Based on the Statement of Contributions and Expenses (SOCEs) submitted by candidates in the recent midterm elections here, Mayor Jose Espinosa III was the biggest spender.

He spent P683, 891, data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Iloilo City showed.

His rival Cong. Jerry Treñas, now the mayor-elect, came in second with P498,437.

The third biggest spender was reelected Councilor Candice Magdalene Tupas (P436, 077.23).

Congresswoman-elect Julie Grace Baronda spent P313,079.

Defeated bet for councilor Ras Borja spent P276, 659.

Dr. Pacita Gonzalez who ran for mayor spentP232,338.40. 

Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon reported having spent P147,600.

Earlier Atty. Mavil Marajucon-Sia, Iloilo City election officer during the May 13 elections, said the SOCEs would be submitted to the Campaign Finance Office of Comelec.

It is the Campaign Finance Office that’s going to assess tanan nga nag-file based on their SOCEs and ang tanan nga wala ka-file,” said Sia.

In Iloilo City, seven candidates failed to file their SOCEs./PN
