Kabankalan gov’t to extend financial aid to 4 Kanlaon-hit LGUs

BACOLOD City – The City Government of Kabankalan in Negros Occidental is set to release its donation to four local government units (LGUs) in the province affected by the Mt. Kanlaon Volcano eruption.

Mayor Benjie Miranda said they will donate a total of P1 million to the following: La Castellana (P400,000), Moises Padilla (P200,000), Bago City (P200,000), and La Carlota City (P200,000).

The town of La Castellana was severely affected during the eruption of the volcano last December.

“It’s payback time,” said Miranda.

He said the city government wants to donate funds to the four LGUs because during the time when Kabankalan City was hit by super typhoon Odette in 2021, many have also extended assistance.

The mayor said the City Treasurer’s Office is currently communicating with the respective LGUs so that the checks will be turned over to them by Wednesday, January 22.

Meanwhile, Kabankalan City culminated its 49th Sinulog sa Kabankalan Festival 2025 yesterday, January 19.

Miranda said the 10-day celebration has been successful and peaceful./PN
