KALIBO, Aklan – Contingents of 2025 Kalibo Sadsad Ati-Atihan contest have jointly appealed to the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival Board (KAFEB) for the early release of their subsidy.
Kalibo Sadsad Ati-Atihan contest, one of the much-awaited Ati-Atihan events, will take place on January 18, 2025 in major streets of Kalibo.
With the KAFEB about to enter its third year of Ati-Atihan festival management, the Ati-Atihan contest promises an unforgettable festive celebration, vibrant revelry and street dancing extravaganza in the coming year.
In their letter-appeal addressed to Kalibo mayor Juris Bautista Sucro, the contingents from Kalibo, Ibajay, Lezo, Numancia, Malinao, and Makato pointed out the early release of subsidy will benefit them in choosing and buying the best materials and accessories for their intricate designed Ati-Atihan costumes, at least six months before they head back to the streets for the Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival.
The Ati-Atihan contingents call for P130,000 for Tribal Big, P100,000 for Tribal Small, P70,000 for Balik Ati, P100,000 for Modern Tribal Big, and P75,000 for Modern Tribal Small as their proposed subsidies for the contest.
For the past two years, the local government of Kalibo and KAFEB have made every effort to distribute the Ati-Atihan subsidy in two tranches – first in the month of October and the second in December./PN
