Kalibo fire leaves P200-K damage

KALIBO, Aklan – Around P200,000 worth of properties went up in smoke after fire gutted a house on Acevedo Street, Barangay Poblacion in this capital town.   

The house was owned by the Gonzales family, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

“Malaki na ang sunog pagdating namin. Gawa sa light materials ang dating boarding house at walang linya ng kuryente, at wala ring mga boarders,” said Fire Officer 3 Joseph Dapitillo.

“Totally burned ang boarding house na made of light materials at may portion na katabi of mixed materials partially burned din,” he added.     

The BFP, Philippine National Police and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded in the area after they received a call for assistance.

The blaze started razing the properties around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. Firefighters put the blaze “under control” at 10:50 p.m. and declared “fire out” 20 minutes after.

No casualty was reported.        

The BFP has yet to determine the cause and origin of the fire.(With Akean Forum/PN)
