ILOILO City – “Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan”, one of the highlights of the 2024 Dinagyang Festival next month, will reflect Iloilo province’s new tourism slogan, “Fun, Foodie and Friendly Iloilo”.
The Kasadyahan is a showcase of local festivals in the province.

Expect heightened performances from nine competing festivals, said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

The Iloilo provincial government is hosting the 2024 edition of Kasadyahan. It was officially launched yesterday in coordination with the city government of Iloilo and the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) at SM City Iloilo.

“We will try our best to show a leveled-up version of the festivals of the province. We will show fun, food and friendly Iloilo,” said Defensor.

The goal is to come up with a comprehensive festival package that mirrors the tourism appeal of Iloilo.

Defensor thanked the city government led by Mayor Jerry Treñas and IFFI headed by business executive Allan Ryan Tan for providing the province with an opportunity to host the Kasadyahan and showcase the province.

In a message read by Iloilo City councilor Johnny Young, Mayor Treñas shared his joy that for the first time, the Iloilo provincial government will be managing the Kasadyahan, which has always been an integral part of the Dinagyang Festival, serving as a traditional platform to display Iloilo’s vibrant and diverse culture.

For the 2024 edition, there is anticipation for an even grander Kasadyahan. The nine festivals (“tribes”) set to perform are the following:

* Katagman Festival of Oton

* Saad Festival of Leganes

* Pantat Festival of Zarraga

* Cry of Jelicuon Festival of New Lucena

* Kaing Festival of Leon

* Tultugan Festival of Maasin

* Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival of Calinog (the 2023 champion)

* Banaag Festival of Anilao

* Kasag Festival of Banate

Provincial Tourism Officer Gilbert Marin said each participating tribe has received a subsidy of P1 million from the provincial government to ensure splendid performances.

The winner of Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan will receive P500,000; P350,000 for second placer; P200,000 for third placer; and P50,000 as consolation prizes for the no-winning tribes./PN
