Kathryn Bernardo expressed her gratitude to her fans for respecting the decisions she made in her personal life amid persistent dating rumors linking her to Lucena mayor Mark Alcala.
Bernardo and Alcala have frequently been seen spending time together on numerous occasions but they have yet to comment on the status of their relationship. They were again sighted while dining recently at a restaurant in Rockwell, Makati.
“[My fans] trust me with the projects that I do, the way I want to present myself, and even the decisions I make, even if they don’t always agree,” the actress said at a presser for a local bank which launched her as endorser.
Bernardo said her true fans trust her to make decisions about the projects she undertakes, reiterating that respect is a way of trusting in her.
“I think doon na pumapasok yung respeto, na if you really trust me, you have to allow me to grow and allow me to make mistakes and learn from my mistakes,” she continued.
The actress also thanked her fans and the brands she worked with for not forcing her to change who she is.
“Na-appreciate ko ‘yung fans and ‘yung brands na nakakatrabaho ko na they don’t try to change me, parang they just give their support. They let me fly. I’m just grateful to my fans who stayed with me through the good times, especially the not-so-good times,” she said.
In November 2025, the actress was defended by her mother, Min, after a fake quote card of the “A Very Good Girl” star criticizing President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. made the rounds of social media.
“Please stop using my daughter’s name or image on your platform, especially if the stories you share are not true/splice… Ang isang kwento pag dinagdagan o binawasan ng kahit isang salita, naiiba ang kahulugan, at nagiging FAKE NEWS. Don’t twist the story para lang dumami ang viewers niyo. It’s unfair,” Min said at the time.
