Kaya dismantles Stallion Laguna in PFF Women’s League

MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo Women’s squad cruised to a lopsided 15-0 victory over Stallion-Laguna Football Club in the 2023 Philippine Football Federation Women’s League on Saturday night at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Kathleen Camille Rodriguez spearheaded the offense with four goals, while Negrense Hazel Lustan, Christine Hulleza, Shelah Cadag, and Sara Isobel Castañeda connected two goals each for the Iloilo City-based booters.

Kaya-Iloilo surged to a 3-0 start in the first 12 minutes behind two goals from Hulleza and a connection from Cadag. It was followed by a connection each from Lustan in the 16th minute and Lizzie Fame Torre in the 22nd for a 5-0 score.

The goal spree continued for Kaya-Iloilo as Ilongga Charisa Marie Lemoran (24th), Rodriguez (28th and 39th), Cadag (34th), and Lustan (39th) added a connection each for a 10-0 halftime score.

Kaya-Iloilo added five more goals in the second half—two from Rodriguez (47th and 52nd), Castañeda (56th and 61st) and Hali Long in the 58th—to record their lopsided win in the tournament.

With the victory, the Ilongga booters finished the elimination round with 22 points, on seven victories, one draw and a loss, while the 10-player Stallion-Laguna remained without a point after suffering its ninth straight loss.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws scored a lopsided 10-0 victory over Manila Nomads Football Club to tie Kaya-Iloilo on top of the standings with 22 points as well.

Team captain Dionesa Tolentin and Carmela Altiche tallied two goals each, while Katrina Magbitang, Regine Rebosura, Judie Arevalo and Erissa Rivas scored a connection each for the Lady Tamaraws.

The Lady Tamaraws went to work in the opening half with two conversions from Tolentin and one each from Rebosura and Magbitang as they established a 4-0 advantage at the half.

FEU continued their domination of the Manila Nomads in the second half as they connected six more goals from Altiche, Rebosura, Arevalo and Rivas to gain the much-needed confidence heading into the playoff round./PN
