MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo and Capital1 Solar Spikers remained level in second place after overwhelming separate foes over the weekend in the PFF Women’s League at the MoA Football Field.
Julissa Cisneros completed a hat-trick while Inday Tolentin netted a brace as Kaya blanked University of the Philippines, 5-0.
Judie Arevalo scored five goals to lead the Solar Strikers to a 12-1 dismantling of University of Santo Tomas.
Kaya and Capital1 are at 18 points, but the defending champions have a superior goal difference. Stallion-Laguna remained on top of the league table with 19 points.
Cisneros and Tolentin were on target in the first half as Kaya took a 4-0 lead at the break. Cisneros, who now have a league-leading 12 goals, added another one in the second half as Kaya was in full control.
“I’m very happy obviously. I’m very grateful on my teammates,” said Cisneros after recording the league’s fourth hat-trick.
Despite the heavy early evening rain, the Solar Spikers, inspired by last week’s stunning win over Stallion, were relentless by scoring eight goals in the second half.
Arevalo, who now has 10 goals this season, got support from Angelica Torres and Regine Rebosura, who completed a hat-trick, and Princess Caparida, who also found the back of the net for Capital1.
“Masaya po at nakatulong na naman sa team at meron kaming hinahabol na point system sa goal difference,” said Arevalo, aware that the team is trying to score a lot of goals as much as it could to gain a better standing.
The Solar Strikers matched the tournament’s biggest winning margin, when Kaya overpowered the Fighting Maroons, 11-0, early in the season.
