ILOILO City – Officers arrested a 24-year-old man for carrying a deadly weapon, a police report showed.
Ricardo Brigido was detained in the custodial facility of the police station in Kalibo, Aklan.
Police caught him wielding a knife while walking on a street in Barangay Estancia, Kalibo at 11 p.m. Friday, the report stated.
He may face a charge for possession of a deadly weapon and violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban.
All permits to carry firearms outside of residence are currently suspended in view of the upcoming synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14.
Aside from guns, Comelec also prohibits the wielding of deadly weapons.
During the period only law enforcers on duty and in proper uniform and those with exemptions from Comelec may carry firearms./PN
