BACOLOD City – Two men were killed while two others were injured after a road accident in front of the Buena Park Subdivision in Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Irma Teoxon, La Castellana police chief, identified the casualties as brothers Merjun Lopez, 27, and Romer Lopez, 18. Both were from Barangay Talaptap, La Castellana.

The Lopez brothers sustained head and body injuries and were brought to the La Castellana Rural Health Unit where Dr. Nenita Sol-Rodriguez pronounced them “dead on arrival.”

Motorcycle driver Elmer Lopez, 42, – Merjun and Romer’s father – and the 20-year-old Orlan Oryos were wounded, police said.

Investigation revealed that Elmer lost control of the motorcycle when a dog suddenly crossed the wet concrete road.

The motorcycle skidded on its side when a cargo truck crashed against it, police said.

The incident happened around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 19.

The cargo truck driver, Joemarie Valenzuela, surrendered to the La Castellana police and was detained./PN
