La Castellana spent P500M for infra projects in 2018 – mayor

BACOLOD City – Infrastructure projects worth around P500 million have been implemented in La Castellana, Negros Occidental this year, according to Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan.

These projects include the construction of school buildings and farm-to-market roads, among others.

The fund was sourced from the town’s budget and from partners, the lady mayor reported in her State of the Municipality Address at the town’s public plaza after a ceremony commemorating the 122nd death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal on Dec. 30, 2018.

Mangilimutan delivered her speech before her constituents, Sangguniang Bayan members, barangay officials, municipal employees, and personnel from the Philippine National Police, Department of Education and Bureau of Fire Protection.

Her speech boasted of the local government unit’s (LGU) accomplishments for year 2018, like an award from the Department of Trade and Industry for economic dynamism.

The town also received an award for being one of the most competitive LGUs in Region 6.

It was also recognized for being a child-friendly town.

Moreover, Mangilimutan stressed that her administration gives importance to education.

She said thousands of students whose schooling was funded under the town’s scholarship program since 2007 have already graduated.

Mangilimutan added that she hopes for more projects to be implemented next year./PN
