La Paz resident shot to death in Guimaras

ILOILO City – A man with multiple gunshot wounds was found dead in Barangay Lanipe, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras yesterday.

The 31-year-old Romar Ordiales was a resident of Bo. Obrero, La Paz, this city. He was found at around 5:20 a.m.

Ordiales was last seen alive in Jordan, Guimaras attending the Manggahan Festival with cousin Ervin Ordiales on Saturday, according to Police Captain Henry Gaburno, Nueva Valencia police chief.

From what the police gathered from Ervin, two armed men forcibly took Ordiales away around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Ervin reported the abduction to the Jordan police station. But according to Gaburno, it would have been better if the cousin had alerted policemen posted nearby.

“There were lots of policemen at the Manggahan Festival site but the victim’s cousin did not alert them right away. The policemen there could have immediately launched a hot pursuit operation,” said Gaburno.

As of this writing, the Jordan and Nueva Valencia police stations did not have suspects in this case.

According to Gaburno, the victim was charged with violating Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) in 2015 for mauling a minor.

Nueva Valencia policemen recovered seven spent bullet shells of a .45 pistol in the area where Ordiales’ body was found./PN
