ILOILO City – Some 16,000 job vacancies are waiting to be filled in today’s Labor Day job fair at the Marymart Center on Valeria Street.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 is the job fair organizer.

According to Niezel Sabrido, information officer of DOLE-6, 13,370 of the available jobs are overseas.

As of April 27, over 90 local companies and an estimated 30 overseas companies expressed interest to join the job fair.

Most of the local companies were looking for customer service representatives, factory workers, drivers, and business process outsourcing agents, among others.

Overseas-based jobs, on the other hand, are for domestic helpers and graduates of medical-related courses such as nurses.

DOLE-6 expects to attract over 8,000 applicants at the job fair today.

Sabrido said they should bring necessary documents such as resumé, application letter and school credentials (transcript of record, diploma, etc.) and even certificate of employment if they have work experience already.

“Para mahapos sa aton mga employers mag-assess sang applicants’ qualifications,” said Sabrido.
