ILOILO City – A 30-year-old laborer was arrested after authorities discovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during a raid in his residence in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo district.
Personnel from the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) Police Station 6 and the City Intelligence Unit) executed a search warrant at the house of the suspect, identified only by the alias “Sandy,” at around 6:44 a.m. on April 13.
Recovered were a caliber .45 pistol and four rounds of live ammunition.
Police said the operation was launched after residents reported seeing the suspect carrying a firearm tucked into his waistband. Further verification confirmed that the suspect did not possess a license for the weapon.
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, ICPO director, noted that the arrest is part of a standing order to all station chiefs to intensify the crackdown on loose firearms in the city.
“Our message is clear: there is no place for lawlessness in our city,” Parilla said.
