BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental’s Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has given the green light to the Bacolod City Government’s request to use the province’s Paglaum Sports Complex for the upcoming MassKara Festival next month.

In a letter addressed to the governor, Mayor Alfredo Benitez sought permission to utilize the stadium for the MassKara Festival arena competition and the closing ceremony scheduled for Oct. 22.

In October of the previous year, the sports complex had been the venue for the festival’s dance                                                                                        competition.

Additionally, the city government has proposed the temporary closure of certain sections of the North and South Capitol roads from Oct. 19 to 22 to accommodate the Lacson Tourism Strip.

Earlier on, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the Paglaum Sports Complex would be made available free of charge. He further assured that they are geared up to deploy additional manpower and security personnel to ensure the safety and well-being of festival attendees.

The MassKara Festival this year is slated to officially kick off on Oct. 7. However, an opening salvo is planned for Oct. 6, featuring a countdown party at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds./PN
