ILOILO – Authorities seized approximately P1,360,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested a high-value drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Marong, Lambunao town on Tuesday afternoon, February 3.
The Tracker Team of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Drug Enforcement Unit, apprehended the suspect identified by the alias “Jean,” 53, and a resident of the town, at around 2:35 p.m.
Recovered from the suspect were two small heat-sealed and two large knot-tied plastic sachets containing alleged shabu weighing 200 grams, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
“This accomplishment speaks volumes of the dedication of our personnel in eliminating the dangers of illegal drugs in the community,” said Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
He emphasized that PRO-6 remains committed to ensuring Western Visayas remains secure and drug-free.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Lambunao MPS. He will be charged for violations of Sections 5 (Sale) and 11 (Possession), Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Local authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities to their nearest police station to assist in the region’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign./PN
