Lapuz fire leaves P120,500 damage

ILOILO City – Fire gutted four houses in Barangay Loboc, Lapuz district yesterday afternoon.

The houses were owned by Lydia Capulot, Nelson Magbanua, Wendy Alabado, and Salvacion ‘Bebing’ Palma, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Properties worth around P120,500 went up in smoke, the BFP estimated.

The fire started razing the houses at around 3:35 p.m. on Jan. 29.

Firefighters were able to put the blaze under control at 3:48 p.m. A “fire out” was declared at 4:23 p.m.

The blaze also left Roel franco Dagaro’s house partially damaged.

The BFP said the fire originated from Capulot’s house.

The cause of the blaze was however not yet available as of this writing. Investigation was ongoing.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office meanwhile vowed to give food and financial assistance to the fire victims.

Paz Badayos of City Social Welfare and Development Office said they will give P7,000 to the family whose houses were totally razed while P5,000 for those whose houses were partially damaged./PN
