BACOLOD City – The prices of lechon, or roast pig, being sold in Purok Lechonan in this city’s Barangay 36, have increased a few days before the Christmas celebration.

According to sellers, lechon is now at P800 per kilogram.

The whole lechon, meanwhile, is now being sold at P7,000 to P10,000. This is compared to the P6,500 pricing just earlier this month.

Lechon sellers added the price is expected to increase further.

Despite concerns over hog cholera and African Swine Fever, consumer interest in this popular holiday dish remains strong.

Sellers noted an uptick in advance bookings for New Year’s Eve festivities.

The sellers have also addressed safety concerns, emphasizing that they strictly adhere to biosecurity protocols and the City Health Office’s regulations on food preparation. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
