MANILA – Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles believes it is “premature” to disclose the names of the two congressmen allegedly involved in the narco-list.
Nograles, chairman of the House committee on appropriations, said law enforcement units are already investigating the matter.
The Davao City congressman appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to just wait for the completion of the probe.
“The result of the investigation can be used as a basis for pursuing legal and administrative actions against members of Congress who are allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs and the protection of narco-traffickers,” according to him.
Identifying the congressmen in the narco-list would disrupt any investigation being conducted, he added.
“Should a complaint-affidavit be filed in the proper forum, the names will be made public anyway which would then constitute public records. So let’s just wait for it,” Nograles said.
Nograles, meanwhile, expressed support for the House of Representatives to conduct its own investigation on the matter.
As lawmakers and policy makers, members of Congress or any public official should not be involved in any criminal activity, especially drug trafficking, he concluded./PN
