ILOILO – The top most wanted person in Leon town was arrested Thursday morning, Oct. 1, after police served three arrest warrants for alleged violations of Republic Act (RA) 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004.
Police operatives tracked down the suspect, identified by his alias “Jomz,” 49, along Capalla Avenue, Barangay Poblacion, Leon, at around 9 a.m.
The tracker team of the Leon Municipal Police Station (MPS) served the arrest warrants issued on Sept. 24, 2026 by judge of the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 5 in Iloilo City.
The accused faces two counts of violating Section 5(a) and one count of Section 5(i) of RA 9262. The court set bail at P2,000 for each of the first two counts and P72,000 for the third count.
The suspect was detained at the Leon MPS for proper documentation and disposition.
Police Regional Office 6 director Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño commended the operating team, highlighting the importance of swift law enforcement action in protecting vulnerable sectors.
“Ang bawat warrant na naipapatupad ay bahagi ng ating tungkuling tiyaking gumagana ang proseso ng hustisya. Patuloy nating tutugisin ang mga wanted person, ngunit sisiguraduhin nating ang bawat operasyon ay isinasagawa nang propesyonal, naaayon sa batas, at may paggalang sa karapatan ng lahat ng sangkot,” Tuaño added./PN
